Floating Away

A boy was in the water, floating away. He wasn't struggling, or screaming for help, he was just... floating. On his back. He floated towards the lake.

Akira was sitting under a tree and noticed a boy floating in the water. She didn't recognize him. "Is he dead?" Akira thought outloud.

Shade layed his eyes on Akira, and started floating farther away.

Akira looked closer and noticed that it was Shade. She waved at him.

Shade looked back to the sky and floated into the river.

Akira stood up. "Shade? What are you doing out there?" She called out to him.

"Floating." Shade said, looking skyward.

Akira tilted her head. "Why is that?" She asked confused. She never saw someone do this before all alone.

"Calms the mind." He replied.

"Oh. I wanna try it!" Akira said as she walked into the water and started to float on her back. "You're right, it does." She said calmly.

They flosted into the river.

All of a sudden, the waves started to get rapider, and sent Akira under water.

Shade was sent underwater too, but he didn't do anything about it.

Akira didn't know how to swim, and was panicking. She couldn't get to the top, instead she kept getting pushed more farther down.

Shade opened his eyes. He saw her struggling and floating towards the bottom. He gave her a look that said Dont struggle. It makes it worse.

Akira stopped struggling. She was nearly out of breath and almost unconscious.

The waves stopped, and the two floated to the top. Shade gasped for air.

When Akira got to the top, she tried to keep afloat, but it wasn't working. She tried to go in a floating position like before to stay up top, but that didn't work either. Her head went down one more time, then back up. "S.. Sh... Shadee.." She mumbled before she passed out and sunk down again.

Shade pulled Akira up from the water and swam to shore. He watched her as she lay on the grass.

Akira layed on the grass, unconscious. Her long, white hair all soaked.

Shade wondered what to do about this. He could leave her, and forget everything that just happened. He could stay with her, and be there when she woke up and tell her about what happened. He could take her to the hospital. He could even kill her if he wanted to, but Akira was nice to him, so he would never hurt her.
He decided to stay with her. He sat next to her, and waited for her to wake up.

After awhile, Akira's eyes slowly opened. "Shade?" She muttered.

Shade smiled. "Yes..." He said.

Akira sat up. "Wha... what happened?" She asked, rubbing her head.

"You were drowning." Shade replied.
