Kori arrives

Cai was hanging around the airport like he normally does, for whatever reason he does so, when two officers came out of a terminal gate, half guiding, half dragging a handcuffed boy away from the gate. The boy appeared to be only eleven, maybe younger, and seemed vaguely familiar to Cai.

Casey had been sitting in the airport for quite some time thinking about what it would be like if he were to go back to his own world instead of living in this completely crazy one. There were so many strange happenings that it was kind of coming to be too much for him to handle. For him, it was like an overload but it was obvious that Nathan wasn't having any issues. But then again, he fit in; Casey didn't.

As the guards appeared with a younger boy, Casey snapped out of his thoughts and back into reality. Quickly, he glanced at the boy before also catching sight of Cai. How had he not seen the caster before now? Slowly getting up and making his way over to the two, he stopped short of Cai to study the new kid.

Cai noticed Casey out of the corner of his eye. He was about to acknowledge him when the officers stopped and released the boy. "Get out of here, freak," one of them said, shoving the boy forward and making him stumble. then the two officers went back inside the terminal gate. The boy picked himself up and went to find his luggage.

Casey finally made his way over to Cai as he continued to watch the boy. He felt bad for him for being treated that way. It seemed like all of the police around here hated others that weren't normal. That's not right... He thought. "You know who that is?" He spoke up at he reached Cai's side. "You seem to be waiting here for something."

Cai shrugged. "He seems familiar, but i can't put my finger on it. Anyway, i was just making sure those cops didn't do anything to hurt him; they tend to get violent. We should probably go over and introduce ourselves," he said, then proceeded to head over to the luggage area.

Casey nodded in agreement and followed Cai quietly until they finally made it over to the boy. "Uh, hey there," He said to the kid without much confidence at all. He wasn't very good with first impressions.

The boy had his back turned as he picked up his suitcase. He turned around when he heard Casey speak. "Oh, hi!" He said cheerily, "Who are you?" Cai couldn't help but laugh at the boy's optimism. "I'm Cai, and this is Casey," he said, slightly amused," And you are?" "My name's Kori," the boy replied, "nice to meet you."

"It's nice to meet you too!" Casey replied with a big smile on his face. He was glad that this kid wasn't as shy as he was or else things probably would have been more awkward than they should have been. "So.. uh, what are you doing here in Skyshatter?"

"Oh, I got caught playing with fire. I'm a fire caster, and I guess they don't like those kind of people over there," he said. Cai smiled, "I'll say. At least they didn't treat you to badly when you got here." It was precisely at that moment that Cai realized why he recognized the boy, but he tried not to show it.

Casey glanced at Cai and saw a little bit of change in his face but he didn't say anything. Instead, he just looked back at Kori. "No, they don't really like anyone not human there. I can kind of speak from experience. My brother is a fire caster too."

Kori tipped his head to the side curiously. "Really? Cool!"

Cai stayed silent for the moment. The boy reminded him of his brother, Osi, before he had come to Skyshatter. He hoped the same thing wouldn't happen to this young fire caster.

"Yeah, I guess it is pretty cool. He likes to flaunt it though which to me gets a little annoying. But it's whatever. Well, I'm glad you could make it here to Skyshatter!" Casey responded, rubbing the back of his head with his hand.

"Yeah, I'm glad I made it here too," He said.

Cai stayed silent, unsure of how best to re-join the conversation.

Finally things fell silent for a moment as Casey tried to think of other things to talk about. He didn't just want to leave Kori here but it was getting slightly awkward. "Soo, you got a place to stay?"

Kori shrugged. "No, not yet at least. Are there any hotels you guys know of?" he asked.
Cai shook his head, "Nope, I don't think so. At least, not here in Windtown."

"Oh, uh.. Actually I'm still kind of new here myself so I don't really think there are any hotels. But maybe you could stay with someone here if you know anyone. Or did you come here by yourself?" Casey asked.

Kori shook his head, "I'm alone, and I don't know anyone here already," he said, slightly downcast.
Cai then thought of something. "I've got a guest room in my house that's vacant, if you don't mind staying with me," he said. Kori shrugged. "Sounds good to me, as long as I can see your police records first," he said jokingly.

Casey smiled. "Well the way the police are acting around here, I'm pretty sure none of the records will look very pretty."

Cai and Kori both laughed. "That's true," Cai said, "but there's nothing wrong with a couple of 'assault on an officer' warrants, right?"

"Erm..." Casey hesitated. "I guess not if Kori doesn't have a problem with it."

Cai shook his head in mock despair. "It was a joke, Casey," he said.

Casey suddenly looked away from both of them so that his hair hung in his face while it turned pink from embarrassment. "Oh.. whoops."

Cai sighed. "It's okay Casey. It wasn't that funny anyway," he said. Kori smiled, "well, that's a good thing, or I might not have a place to sleep tonight."

When his face finally returned to normal, he looked back and smiled. "Nah. You would have a place to sleep either way."

Kori shrugged. "Maybe. Maybe not," he said.
