Don't really know what to call this one.

It was a nice sunny day with a light breeze and only a few clouds in the sky and Leyla and her family were playing out in the front yard.

Cai was laying in the grass, resting and enjoying the sun and the breeze.

Liyra and Leyla were playing with a water sprinkler that had set up, other little toys like hoola-hoops and large bouncy ball were scattered around the yard as well. Leyla had been having fun playing in the sprinkler with her mom and watching her do trick with the water when she stopped and looked over at Cai who was laying on the grass, she seemd a little bit dissapointed that her daddy wasn't playing with them Liyra noticed her daughters dissapointment and decided to splash Cai wth a little water to get his attention.

"hey, what was that for?" Cai grumbled, sitting up.

Liyra looked away as if she hadn't done anything.
"Come play with us daddy." Leyla said eagerly

Cai smiled.  "Alrighty, what do you want to play?" he asked.

Leyla smiled and ran over to get the large rubber ball and bounced it off of the ground towards her dad hopeing he'd understand what she was getting at.

Cai caught the ball easily. "Oh, I see," he said, bouncing the ball back to her, gently.

Leyla easilly caught the ball and bounced it back a little harder, "Faster Daddy!" she shouted happily.
Liyra was glad to see her daughter having fun with her dad and decided to go turn the water off before it turned the front yard into aa large mudpuddle.

Without thinking, Cai put a little extra strength into his bounce. Only a moment later, he realized his mistake, but it was too late.

Leyla couldn't cath the ball as it bounced over her head, "I'll get it!" She said as she ran out into the street after the ball, she went over and picked up the ball from where it stopped in the street and turned around "Look Daddy I got it!" Leyla yelled happily then what happened next when by all to fast as there was a scream then a sickening thud and the sound of bones breaking as blood went everywhere then the screeching of tires comeing to a stop, a large rubber ball bouncing away from it all.

Cai was up in an instant.  "Leyla!" he cried in a voice that held none of his usual emotions; fear, sheer terror really, of what he felt he may have witnessed as he frantically searched the bloody scene. She was all in one piece, but crushed and broken and obviously in a great deal of pain.

The man the had been driveing the car had already gotten out of it and run over to where the girl he had just hit lay on the ground, "Oh my god! I'm so sorry! I didn't see her!" The man said franticly now knowing what to do, a young child about Leyla's age remained in the car.

Liyra had gone to turn off the water and didn't witniss what had just happened, all she needed to know something was wrong was to hear Cai's reaction to it. Liyra imediatly ran to the street and imeadiatly started to panic at what she saw, "Cai! please do something!" She shouted, an incomprehensible amount of fear in her voice.

"Don't stand there, call an ambulance!" Cai snapped at the man, then knelt next to his daughter, looking for signs of life. He didn't want to touch her, for fear of causing more damage. Thankfully, he could see the rise and fall of her chest, so he knew Leyla was alive, for the moment. "Liyra, it's okay, don't panic," he said, knowing full well what her reaction was without looking.

Wether or not the man had acctually heard what Cai had said or not wasnt apparant as he rushed back to the car and franticly called 911.

"Cai thats our daughter! How am I supposed to not panic!" Liyra shouted wanting to do something to help but to afraid that she would hurt her daughter even more.

Cai didn't turn around, because he knew the fear etched into his face would cause Liyra to panic even more. Leyla's eyes were closed, so he knew his daughter couldn't see him. As he tried to calm himself down, he spoke to Liyra. "Just...just calm down and remember who her father is," he said, though he knew it was unlikely his powers would have passed on. But Liyra didn't need to know that, did she?

It didn't take long for an ambulance and a few police officers to respond, the paramedics tried to hide any expression on their face of the grim assesment of the scene and quickly loaded Leyla into the ambulance and closed the doors, not even giving the time or the option for Cai or Liyra to be in the vehicle. While this had been happening a police officer explained that he would escort them behind the ambulance to the hospital.

It didn't take long to get to the hospital, but the police car had to stop. "ambulances only" read a sign, so they all got out of the car and were led to the waiting room or whatever happens because I am unfamiliar with the procedure.

After what felt like an eternity later a doctor wearing scrubs finally walked out from behind a pair of double doors and looked around for the parrents of the girl he had just operated on. when he found Cai and Liyra sitting around with worried expressions he figured that was who he was looking for and walked up to them, a solemn expression on his face. "Sir? Ma'am? I don't know how to tell you this but.. Your daughter didn't make it, her spine was shattered and her organs were paste, there was nothing we could do. I'm sorry. Unfortunately we couldn't let her lay on the operateing table due to this being an urgent care wing so we moved her to the mourge. Again I'm sorry I have children of my own and I know how hard it would be to hear this kind of tragic news and we didn the best we could to stitch her up for you." The man said before explaining the situation to a woman behind the desk and arangeing transport to the mourge if it was requested.

Liyra was to stunned by the news to respond, words couldn't describe how she felt but she was angry and sad and it hurt to much to be able to cry, she wanted to hurt that man for killing her daugter but she had also noticed the child in the back seat of the vehicle and she knew she wouldn't be able to bring herself to do anythign to that childs father.

Cai took the news hard, but tried not to let it show. For Liyra, for himself. And now, he could be certain of one thing: his daughter hadn't been born a forever. In any other circumstance, that would have been good news, he wouldn't have passed on his curse. But now, it just caused more pain, more heartache to him, and more importantly, to Liyra. Cai had lived through all kinds of pain, physically and emotionally; the body count of his family had just gone up one. And who was to blame? not the man driving the car, but Cai; at least, that's how he saw it, the same way he saw all the deaths of his family.
Solemnly, Cai stood up and turned to Liyra. "Let's go see her," he said, hoping that was the best idea.

Meanwhile, in the Mourge....

Leyla could feel the pain now, coming out of her sleep, but she couldn't move. She wanted to scream, but none of her muscles or organs would do the work. So she lay there, afraid and confused, hoping someone would show up to save her.

Liyra nodded to cai with tear in her eyes as he suggested that they go se Leyla, she knew it would be painfull but she wanted to see her daughter. Shortly afterwards a nurse came and asked them if they were ready, Liyra nodded and the nurse lead them to the mourge where an old friend was waiting.

"I'm so sorry Cai." John said as they walked through the door into the mourge

Cai shook his head, not wanting John to apologize. At least it was John, the man that had been his best friend in this world for so long, who was here, and not some stranger. "Just take us to her," Cai said, wanting to get there before he shut down and fell into the pain and grief like he had done in the past.

Meanwhile...

Leyla had no idea what was going on. She still couldn't move, and whatever was holding back the pain had worn off. But it also seemed like the pain was going away, little by little.

"Liyra are you ready?" John asked consideratly. Liyra nodded then lead them to the spot where they had put Leyla. "Are you two sure you're ready?" John asked a finall time, Liyra just nodded timidly, trying not to sob.

Cai nodded. "Go ahead," he said quietly.

Meanwhile...

Leyla could hear voices,move only a little bit now. She could open her eyes, but was confused by the blackness. She tried to speak, but nothing came out, not yet. so she stared up at nothingness, waiting for the voices to help her.

"John nodded and oppened the box on the wall and slid out the platform that Leylas boddy lay on, "Again, I'm so very sorry." John said before unzipping the body bag.
