"But Liyra, can't you see that I don't mind that?" He said, "Everyone I've ever known will die anyway. I'd rather spend the time I have with you in the best possible way than spend all of eternity thinking 'what if?' Don't you realize that never being with you would bring me more suffering?"

Cai's question had caught Liyra off guard and stopped her in her tracks. She turned around slightly to face Cai; now no longer crying, "D-Do you really mean that?" She asked timidly.

Cai gave her a small smile, tears still shining in his eyes. "Of course I do," he said.

"Prove it?" Liyra asked timidly as her cheeks turne a bright shaade of red.

Cai blushed aswell. "If you're sure you want to..." he said.
